Hello, I am new to the area and haven't seen a dancesafe chapter in CO. yet. I have seen some great progress with dancesafe where I am coming from ( midwest) and would love to help start a Denver chapter. If anyone is interested please let me know...

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Sat, December 22, 2007 - 5:47 PMIt is a non-profit organization that promotes smart and healthy partying, in safe environments. You can read their mission at www.dancesafe.org, but the stand usually consists of having medically trained proffessionals (EMT, WFR, CPR) on site and all sorts of information on all mind altering substances. Dancesafe promotes knowledge before you try, or if you even have a pill that looks sketcky, we usually have E-tester kits on site. really interesting, check it out, then get back with me... -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Sun, December 23, 2007 - 10:35 AMwell, I have run 2 shows myself, and helped with others. We need to do three shows with a set crew of at least seven people I think, and then we can get sponsorship by the organization. They will send us stickers, pamphlets, tester kits, and we can even get some tax exemption for being part. I really don't know anyone in the area, hell I move out there in 3 days. If you are interested further E-mail me and I can send you some literature. Oh, and spread the word we could use all the help we need... -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 12:47 PMYeah, Denver used to have a dancesafe back in the day but it got shut down. Im all about it. i think that was one of the most positive things in the scene when I first started going to raves... -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 6:22 PMlol one of the only positive things. Sorry I'm not a big fan of raves, simply because they are kids (13-16) that go to them and the older kids (20 and up) sell bad drugs to the little ones. Personally I don't think people who are under 16 should be doing drugs, but at least if they are I want to make it safe for them. Too many heads have I held over the toilet. -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 7:28 PMagree with you 100% that people 16 and under should not be doing any drugs. At that age brain is still developing and drugs can and will do a lot of damage. Most drugs are probably not good for older people either but at least damage is not as severe. Have much respect for dancesafe. Whether they are at an event or not people will do drugs regardless and I'd rather see people partying safe regardless or their age. -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 4:50 PMi do have respect for dancesafe. in fact the last thing i posted said: if they are going to party (the kids under 16) i want them to do it safe. Meaning I want to help out. I've help way too many heads over toilets (as previously mentioned) to not want to help.
i'm in if you need me.

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 8:03 PMNolan,
What chapter were you with? I used to be with PartySmart and when I moved back to Denver I found the loss of a member of the Denver chapter caused it to disban....
I've been to a good number of parties here in the last 6 months and there does seem to be a need for a chapter here.
I'm not sure how much time I can commit, but I'd love to help you get up and running. -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 12:40 PMI helped with the STL chapter back at home and led an independent first aid team for many festivals around the midwest/southeast. I agree that this will not keep kids from doing drugs but will inform them about what's up! i find that very important. I have had a few replies about this and am thinking about possibly setting up a stand at an upcoming show. I will get in contact with all uinterested in the future... -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 9:46 PMThe one part of dancing safely that concerns me is hearing loss....
As a music lover who has seen too many dancers, DJs and sound guys develop tinnitus and hearing damage,
I want to educate people more about safe sound... decibel levels... and the fact that at 90% of electronic music shows, you need
to wear hearing protection or else face permanent hearing loss or discomfort.
If you have to raise your voice to have a conversation on the dancefloor very much, it's too loud for more than an hour or two's safe exposure.
Some people scoff at this advice, but sadly, many of them will suffer.
Practice safe sound - ya'll! Enjoy music forever. -

Re: Is anyone interested in starting a Denver dancesafe chapter?
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 7:37 PMI grew up in the Detroit techno/house scene during the 90's - and now I'm up in Steamboat Springs. I'd love to come down to Denver for "parties" but not "raves" - both are events featuring electronic music, perhaps, but I believe the main difference is that "raves" are about something other than the music and good times with good people. "Raves," I believe, are shallow experiences where kids get lost in their own heads.
If there are good DJ's playing, I'd love to hear about it - and how about getting some tech-house up here in the hills!
Much love & respect to y'all!
